Accident – Three Young Men Killed in Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Crash Near Kota
Accident – A devastating road accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Kota claimed the lives of three young men on Wednesday after their vehicle lost control and plunged off the road.
Vehicle Loses Control on Expressway
The incident took place near the Balapura area, close to Thumda village, where the car reportedly veered off the expressway. According to initial findings, the vehicle was travelling at a high speed when the driver lost control. The SUV broke through the central divider and fell nearly 30 feet नीचे, resulting in a severe crash.
The force of the impact left the vehicle completely mangled, indicating the intensity of the collision. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with loud noises followed by cries for help.
Victims Identified as Pune Residents
Authorities later identified the victims as Siddhant (21), Kunal (25), and Mayureva (23), all residents of Pune. The three were close friends and were returning home after a long road trip.
Police officials confirmed that the group had recently travelled to Leh-Ladakh. They had set out on February 26 as part of a larger group of ten people. While the other members were travelling in separate vehicles behind them, the victims were in a Fortuner SUV when the accident occurred.
Rescue Efforts and Medical Response
Local residents were among the first to respond after the crash. With their help, the victims were pulled out from the severely damaged vehicle. However, by the time emergency assistance arrived, all three had already sustained fatal injuries.
They were immediately taken to the Kaithoon Community Health Centre. Dr Rajesh Samar, who is in charge of the facility, confirmed that the victims were declared dead upon arrival. The bodies were later shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Police from the Kaithoon station reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. Station House Officer Manoj Sikarwar stated that preliminary investigations point towards overspeeding as the main reason behind the crash.
Officials are continuing their investigation to determine if any additional factors contributed to the incident. The authorities have also begun the process of informing the victims’ families.

The tragic accident has once again raised concerns about speeding on high-speed corridors like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Experts have often warned that even minor lapses in control at high speeds can lead to fatal consequences.
Authorities have urged drivers to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution, especially on newly developed expressways designed for high-speed travel.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks associated with reckless driving and highlights the need for stricter enforcement of road safety measures.
