Accident – Speeding Car Plows Into Roadside Vendors, One Dead
Accident – A tragic road accident claimed the life of a woman and left three others seriously injured after a speeding car veered off course and struck a group of roadside vegetable vendors on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Sudden Loss of Control Leads to Fatal Crash
According to initial reports, the accident took place in the Koyna Colony area, where a daily vegetable market operates along the roadside. During the busy evening hours, vendors had set up their stalls close to the road, as usual. Between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm, a car heading toward the highway at high speed reportedly went out of control.
Witnesses said the vehicle abruptly swerved off the road and rammed into four women who were seated nearby selling vegetables. The impact was severe, leaving all four victims critically injured at the scene.
Immediate Rescue Efforts by Locals
Local vendors and bystanders reacted quickly following the crash. Without delay, they rushed the injured women to Krishna Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite their efforts, one of the women was declared dead upon arrival by doctors.
The deceased woman’s identity has not been officially disclosed at the time of reporting. Meanwhile, the injured have been identified as Rupali Maruti Patil, Dipali Sachin Hulwan, Gyanada Sachin Hulwan, and a 13-year-old girl.
Victims Undergoing Intensive Treatment
Hospital authorities confirmed that the three surviving victims are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Their condition is described as serious, and medical teams are closely monitoring their progress.
The young girl among the injured has drawn particular concern due to her age and the severity of her injuries. Doctors have not yet provided a detailed update on recovery timelines.
Vehicle Stopped After Hitting Roadside Structures
Eyewitnesses reported that after hitting the women, the car continued moving forward before crashing into a roadside signboard. The vehicle eventually came to a halt after getting stuck on a parapet nearby.
The sequence of events suggests that the driver may have struggled to regain control after losing command of the vehicle. Witnesses also claimed that the car was being driven by a woman at the time of the incident.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary observations indicate overspeeding as a key factor, though other possibilities such as mechanical failure or driver error are also being examined.
Police officials are expected to review CCTV footage from nearby areas and gather statements from witnesses to piece together the full sequence of events. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
Concerns Over Roadside Markets and Safety
The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of roadside markets, especially those located along busy roads. Vendors often operate in close proximity to moving traffic, increasing the risk of accidents.
Local residents have called for stricter traffic control measures and better safety arrangements in such areas. Suggestions include designated vending zones, speed restrictions, and improved roadside barriers to prevent similar tragedies.
Community in Shock
The accident has left the Koyna Colony community in mourning and disbelief. Many residents and fellow vendors expressed grief over the loss and concern for those still battling injuries in the hospital.
As authorities continue their investigation, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
