Toronto: A lady of Indian descent was killed in and the culprit is being sought

Toronto: According to local media sources quoting law enforcement authorities, when a 30-year-old Indian-origin woman was discovered slain in Toronto, police issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for a suspect they claim was acquainted with the deceased.

Himanshi Khurana has been recognized as the lady. In relation to the murder, Toronto Police are looking for Abdul Ghafoori, 32, who also lives in Toronto.

The Indian Consulate General in Toronto acknowledged the situation, expressing astonishment and sadness over the tragedy.

“We are extremely saddened and shocked by the murder of Ms. Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national, in Toronto,” the Consulate said in a post on X. We offer her family our sincerest sympathies at this time of extreme sorrow.

The Consulate said that all available support is being given to the family in close conjunction with Canadian authorities, and that officials have been keeping a close eye on the situation over the previous several days.

The Toronto Police said they received a complaint of a missing individual late on Friday night, which prompted the first alarm.

“On Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 10:41 p.m., police responded to a call for a Missing Person in the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area,” the statement said.

Officers discovered the sobering information the next morning.

Police said that the death was being investigated as a murder. “On Saturday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers located the missing female deceased inside a residence,” the statement read.

The victim and the suspect were acquainted to one another, according to police confirmation.

According to investigators, “intimate partner violence” seems to be involved in this instance, according to police sources (CBC News).

First-degree murder, which carries a life sentence without the possibility of release if premeditation and intent are proven in court, is the charge for which Abdul Ghafoori is sought on a Canada-wide warrant.

Authorities are still working to find and apprehend the culprit, so the investigation is still underway.
