Zelenskyy : requests 50-year security assurances and provides specifics of Trump’s meetings
Zelenskyy : On Monday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, said that US President Donald Trump had told him about a 20-point peace plan for Ukraine that Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had discussed.

Zelenskyy made the comments during a meeting with Trump on Sunday, December 28, at the US President’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, where the two leaders spoke about potential strategies to end the conflict. Nearing the end of its fourth year, the war started with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said that he pushed for long-term security assurances that would last for the next 50 years at the discussion. He also made it clear that any interaction with Russia would only be feasible if President Trump and European leaders could agree on formalized papers.
Meanwhile, Trump said on Sunday that he and Putin had a “terrific” meeting and a “excellent” phone conversation that lasted more than two hours. On February 24, the conflict will have lasted four years.
As part of his attempts to investigate a negotiated solution between Russia and Ukraine that would put an end to the conflict, Trump had invited Zelenskyy to his private club.
Zelenskyy outlined Kyiv’s stance on the suggested peace framework and said that Ukraine wishes to meet with National Security Advisors from the US, Europe, and Ukraine in the near future. Ukraine anticipates that security assurances would be provided as soon as the peace deal is properly signed, he said.
He said that Ukraine, the US, Russia, and Europe should all sign the peace plan, adding that a technical body could be needed to execute it. Zelenskyy suggested that the peace proposal be put to a vote in Ukraine and said that Ukraine is still open to all forms of engagement with Russia.
Zelenskyy said that a ceasefire lasting at least 60 days would be required to enable such a vote, and that the security assurances would include information on ceasefire monitoring. Additionally, he said that talks will be held on the creation of a free economic zone in the Donbas area.
“President Putin was very generous in his way toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices,” Trump said at a late-afternoon news conference following his meeting with Zelenskyy. He also called Zelenskyy “brave” several times.
Trump said, “I have no problem doing it, don’t anticipate it, would like to get a deal done and NOT have to go,” in response to a question about the prospect of visiting Ukraine, according to RT News.
Trump said, “I saw a very interesting President Putin today, he wants to see it happen, He told me very strongly,” emphasizing Putin’s desire for the war to cease. I trust him.
