“I just had a good and very productive telephone call with President Putin of Russia prior to my meeting, at 1:00 P.M. today, with President Zelensky of Ukraine,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“The meeting will be held at Mar-a-Lago’s main dining room. “The press is welcome,” he said.

According to the Xinhua news agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that Putin and Trump talked over the phone on Sunday.

The framework of the 20-point peace plan, which includes a potential ceasefire schedule, a proposed demilitarized zone, the management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, territorial control of the Donbas region, and security guarantees after the crisis is over, was anticipated to be discussed by Trump and Zelensky.

After what he called a “terrific meeting” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, Trump said that peace talks to end the conflict in Ukraine were “very close.”

“We’ve performed well. The two sides have “made a lot of progress on ending that war,” Trump said reporters during the meeting, adding, “We’ve had discussions on just about every subject.”

Following their bilateral talks, Trump and Zelensky also called with a number of European leaders, characterizing the outreach as appropriate considering the stakes. He named NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and leaders from France, Finland, Poland, Norway, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Trump said, “We felt it was appropriate to speak with them.” “We had a great meeting.”
