Trump: cautions that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine might “end up in third world war” if it continues
Trump: The protracted dispute between Russia and Ukraine might turn into a worldwide battle, US President Donald Trump said Thursday, warning that “things like this end up in third world wars.”

Trump told reporters at the White House that 25,000 people, primarily soldiers, were killed in the war last month alone. He also expressed his deep frustration over the ongoing carnage and reaffirmed his call for an immediate end to hostilities after signing an Executive Order intended to prevent a “patchwork” of state-level artificial intelligence regulations.
“I want the killing to end. Although some civilians were also killed by explosives, the majority of the 25,000 individuals who perished last month were troops. I wish it would cease. The US President said, “And we’re working really hard.”
“Wars in the third world are caused by things like this. And the other day, I mentioned that. Everyone continues to play games like these, I remarked. We don’t want to see a third global war break out, he said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier in the day that the US President is not interested in doing “meetings just for the sake of meeting” and is “extremely frustrated” with both Russia and Ukraine over the lack of progress in resolving the current conflict.
As the US serves as the main mediator to put an end to the four-year-running conflict, Leavitt said at a news conference that the President was fed up with discussions that produce nothing and wants outcomes, not words.
“The president is very irritated with both sides of the conflict. He is tired of attending meetings only for their own sake. He wants to stop talking. He desires action. “He wants this war to end,” Leavitt said.
With President Trump meeting with European leaders on Wednesday and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his team conducting direct conversations with both parties “literally as we speak,” she further affirmed that the Trump administration is still actively engaged in peace efforts.
According to Al Jazeera, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States is pushing for Ukraine to withdraw its troops from the Donetsk region in order to establish a “free economic zone” in Kyiv-controlled parts of eastern Ukraine that Moscow wants to control.
Zelenskyy emphasized that any territorial compromises would need approval via a national vote and stated on Thursday that Ukraine had sent a 20-point list of counter-proposals to the US as part of continuing talks on security assurances with top American officials.
Washington has also been putting further pressure on the Ukrainian president to negotiate a peace agreement with Russia; according to Al Jazeera, Trump is reportedly seeking an agreement by Christmas.
In addition to distinct texts covering security assurances and Ukraine’s rebuilding, the overall peace plan has a 20-point framework.
The updated framework, which modifies a previous US proposal that was seen to favor Russia, has not yet been made public in its entirety.
According to Al Jazeera, Zelenskyy said that the primary areas of contention are still over control of the Donetsk region in the Donbas and the future management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, which is now governed by Russia.
