Tragedy – Rescue teams continued their search operations on Saturday morning near Keshi Ghat in Vrindavan, located in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district, following a deadly boat accident that claimed at least ten lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced financial assistance for the victims. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the families of those who died, while injured individuals will receive Rs 50,000 for medical support.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the incident as deeply distressing and instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured. He also directed local authorities to extend all necessary support to the affected families.
Pilgrims Among the Victims
State officials revealed that many of the passengers on board were pilgrims visiting Mathura and Vrindavan from states such as Haryana and Punjab. The group had reportedly traveled for religious purposes and were returning when the tragedy occurred.
Family members of the victims shared emotional accounts, recalling their last conversations with loved ones. Some said their relatives had expressed happiness upon reaching the pilgrimage site, unaware of the impending disaster.
