Mumbai Crime: Woman Partner Arrested, Domestic Help Stabbed Dead in Santacruz
Mumbai Crime: Late on Wednesday night, a dramatic event involving the suspected stabbing murder of a domestic helper in Mumbai’s Santacruz West neighborhood came to light. The 35-year-old lady spouse of the deceased has been taken into custody by the Santacruz police on suspicion of murder. The accused’s home was the scene of the event.

The deceased has been identified by the police as Santacruz West resident Reshma. Kamta alias Preeti, a Santacruz West resident, has been identified as the culprit. Preliminary inquiry has shown that both ladies were in a personal relationship while working as domestic assistants.
According to the FIR, the two ladies got into a fight at the accused’s residence on Wednesday between 11.30 p.m. and 12 a.m. The accused allegedly questioned the dead about meeting someone, which caused the argument to intensify. Kamta is said to have killed Reshma instantly by stabbing her in the chest with a knife while in a fit of wrath.
When the Santacruz police received the information, they hurried to the spot and arrested the accused right away. The accused has been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with penalty for murder.
After appearing in court, the accused was placed in police custody until January 22. The police are gathering evidence, including the weapon used in the crime, as part of their ongoing investigation.
