IranConflict – Regional Tensions Rise After Coordinated Retaliatory Military Strikes
IranConflict – Iran’s armed forces, along with allied resistance groups across the region, carried out a series of retaliatory strikes targeting American and Israeli military positions, according to reports from Iranian state broadcaster Press TV. The operations were conducted on Sunday and were described by Tehran as a response to what it called earlier acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Operation announced as response to earlier attacks
Iranian officials stated that the military actions were carried out under a campaign referred to as Operation True Promise 4. The initiative was reportedly led jointly by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and units of the Iranian Army.
Tehran claims the campaign was launched following what it described as a coordinated military assault involving the United States and Israel. Iranian authorities framed the new strikes as defensive retaliation aimed at deterring further attacks on the country and its allies.
Missile and drone waves reported across multiple locations
According to Iranian sources, the operation has involved numerous waves of missile and drone launches. Reports indicated that at least 27 rounds of strikes had taken place since the escalation began.
These attacks were said to employ a combination of advanced missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Targets reportedly included Israeli military facilities in the occupied territories as well as American military installations located across parts of West Asia.
Iranian officials claimed that earlier waves of the campaign had weakened enemy radar and defence systems, making later strikes more effective.
Strike reported on US helicopter base in Kuwait
Among the operations carried out on Sunday was a strike targeting a United States helicopter base in Al-Ada’iri, Kuwait. Iranian military sources said the mission was conducted by the naval ballistic missile division of the IRGC.
The attack allegedly focused on helicopter maintenance areas, fuel storage tanks and command infrastructure. Iranian state media reported that the strike caused significant damage to the facility, although independent verification of the claims has not been confirmed.
Advanced missile systems reportedly deployed
Iranian military statements indicated that several types of missiles were used during the operation. These included the Khaibar Shekan, Emad and Qadr missile systems.
Officials said some of the missiles were equipped with cluster warheads and were fired at multiple targets throughout the Israeli-controlled territories. The strikes reportedly covered a wide geographical area from northern to southern regions.
Iranian defence reports also highlighted the Kheibar Shekan missile, describing it as capable of travelling up to around 1,450 kilometres while maintaining high manoeuvrability.
Additional attacks on US-linked bases in the region
Press TV also reported that another round of strikes targeted the Al-Azraq Air Base, a site described as a major operational hub for American aviation units. The facility was reportedly struck several times using missiles and drones.
Iranian forces also claimed to have launched precision-guided missiles at the American Jafir Base following an earlier incident involving a desalination plant on the island of Qeshm.
At the same time, Iran’s national air defence network reportedly intercepted and shot down a Hermes 900 drone in western Iran.
Regional groups join military operations
The conflict has also expanded beyond Iran, with several regional armed groups announcing participation in the campaign. Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq were among those reported to have taken part in coordinated operations.
Hezbollah said it fired rockets toward the Branit military barracks and the Israeli coastal city of Nahariya. The group described the attacks as retaliation for Israeli military actions affecting multiple towns in southern Lebanon and areas near Beirut.
Reports also indicated clashes near the border town of Aitaroun, where Hezbollah fighters engaged Israeli forces. Rocket fire was directed at military vehicle concentrations in nearby highland areas, while drones were launched toward Kiryat Shmona.
Iraq-based resistance groups carry out drone strikes
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that it conducted 24 separate operations within a single day. These included drone strikes targeting the Harir military base in northern Iraq and the Victoria base located within Baghdad International Airport.
Separately, the Al-Karrar Brigades in the Levant reported launching missiles at American military positions near the Syrian city of Palmyra. The group said its actions were intended to support Iran and respond to ongoing hostilities across the region.
Situation remains tense across West Asia
The developments mark one of the most significant escalations in regional tensions in recent months. Military activity has been reported across several countries, raising concerns about the possibility of a broader conflict.
While Iranian media has highlighted the scale of the operations, independent confirmation of several claims remains limited. International observers continue to monitor the situation as diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions remain uncertain.
