Iran – Drone Strike on Bahrain Injures 32 as Gulf Tensions Rise
Iran – An overnight drone strike believed to be launched by Iran injured dozens of people on Bahrain’s Sitra island, authorities said Monday, as tensions across the Gulf continued to escalate amid a widening regional conflict.

Officials reported that 32 people were hurt in the attack, all of them Bahraini nationals. According to a statement released by the country’s health ministry through the state news agency, four of the injured remain in serious condition, including several children. Medical teams are continuing treatment for those affected.
Civilians Among the Injured in Sitra Island Attack
Health officials confirmed that the victims included a 17-year-old girl who suffered severe injuries to her head and eyes during the strike. A two-month-old infant was also among those hurt. Hospitals across the island provided emergency care as rescue services worked overnight to respond to the incident.
Authorities have not yet released details about the exact damage caused by the drone strike, but the incident has raised concerns over civilian safety in the Gulf as the conflict intensifies.
Explosions Reported in Doha Amid Continued Attacks
Elsewhere in the region, residents in Qatar’s capital Doha reported hearing several explosions early Monday. Journalists in the city confirmed the sounds as air defense systems responded to incoming threats.
Qatar’s defence ministry later stated that its forces successfully intercepted a missile targeting the country. The attack is believed to be part of an ongoing series of Iranian drone and missile launches across the Gulf.
Doha has faced repeated aerial threats since Iran began a broad retaliatory campaign following large-scale military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.
Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drones Near Strategic Oil Facility
Saudi Arabia also reported fresh aerial threats on Monday. The kingdom’s defence ministry said its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed two drones that were heading toward the Shaybah oil field in the southeastern region of the country.
The Shaybah facility is considered a key component of Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructure, making it a significant strategic target. Officials confirmed that the drones were neutralized before they could reach the area.
Kuwait Strengthens Air Defenses After Multiple Strikes
Kuwait’s defence ministry announced that its air defense systems were actively responding to incoming missile and drone threats on Monday. The country had already faced a significant barrage the previous day.
According to government figures, Kuwait was targeted by seven missiles and five drones on Sunday. Air defense units remain on high alert as authorities monitor the situation across the Gulf.
United States Orders Partial Embassy Evacuation in Saudi Arabia
Amid the growing security concerns, the United States has taken precautionary measures involving its diplomatic personnel in the region. The US State Department announced Sunday that non-essential government employees and family members stationed in Saudi Arabia have been instructed to leave the country.
The travel advisory cited safety risks following a series of drone strikes linked to the escalating conflict.
Last week, drones struck the US embassy compound in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Similar incidents also caused damage to American diplomatic facilities in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, further highlighting the expanding reach of the attacks.
Regional Fallout From Wider Military Conflict
Gulf countries have become increasingly exposed to the consequences of the ongoing confrontation involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The escalation began after Washington and Tel Aviv launched a large-scale air campaign against Iran on February 28.
Since then, Tehran has expanded retaliatory operations across the region, targeting locations it believes may be connected to the military campaign against it.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the country may respond against neighboring states if their territory is used as a base for attacks against Iran. The statement has heightened concerns about further instability in the Gulf.
With multiple countries reporting missile and drone interceptions within a short span, regional security analysts warn that the situation remains volatile and could continue to evolve rapidly.
