Due to a runway problem, Leeds Bradford Airport closed overnight
Due to runway problems, Leeds Bradford Airport was closed overnight Due to several inbound aircraft cancellations shown on the airport’s online arrival board, travelers have been advised to verify with their airlines.
In 1994, the airport received planning authorization to conduct flights, and it now does so around the clock.
The airport announced that repair crews were on the scene and that the runway will reopen at 6 a.m. on Saturday in a statement posted on its website at midnight.
According to an update, work was moving forward, and travelers were urged to arrive on time unless instructed differently by their airline.
At 10 p.m. on Friday, the following message was posted: “We have had to decide to shut the airport until the morning due to an unexpected runway problem.
For the most recent details on their flight, customers are encouraged to contact their airline.
“The safety and comfort of the passengers using our terminal is our top priority, and we are working to resolve the disruption as soon as possible.”
“Our staff is available in the terminal to respond to any questions customers may have about departures.”
Every day, dozens of planes take off from the airport.
According to the airport’s website, only the quietest aircraft are allowed to fly during the approved nighttime flight window, which runs from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
