Donald Trump: The “acting president of Venezuela” is currently US President
Donald Trump: With a mysterious social media post on Truth Social, US President Donald J. Trump sparked an internet frenzy that left both his followers and detractors perplexed. The tweet just included a picture of a man with a somber expression and the words “acting president of Venezuela” written underneath it. Because there was no more text, background, or explanation, viewers were free to understand it in a variety of ways.

“Venezuela is really working out well,” Trump said earlier in the day while speaking to reporters on Air Force One. We’re getting along well with their leadership, and we’ll see how things turn out.”
Additionally, Trump said, “She’s been very good,” in a conversation with Delcy Rodriguez, the temporary president of Venezuela. I said, “Yes, we can take 50 million barrels of oil; it is valued at $4.2 billion and is currently en route to the United States.”
This development followed the President’s signing of an Executive Order declaring a national emergency on Friday (local time) to shield Venezuelan oil revenue in US Treasury accounts from judicial seizure or legal attachment. The President stated that the action was taken to further US national security and foreign policy goals.
The White House claims that any attachment, judgment, lien, execution, garnishment, or other legal action against Venezuelan oil income and diluent sales placed in US Treasury accounts is prohibited under the Executive Order.
Unless expressly permitted by the new directive, these monies, known as “Foreign Government Deposit Funds,” are to stay frozen. Additionally, the order forbids any transfer or trading of the monies and supersedes previous orders that would have controlled or limited such transactions.
It declares that the oil profits are Venezuela’s sovereign property, kept in US custody for diplomatic and governmental reasons, and cannot be claimed by private parties. Prior to this, US President Donald Trump said that “a lot of money is going to be made” at a meeting with senior oil and gas executives at the White House on Friday (local time) to encourage significant investments in Venezuela’s energy industry.
The US intervention that resulted in the detention of former dictator Nicolas Mauro and his wife “will go down in history as a major stain” on ties between Washington and Caracas, Venezuelan Interim President Delcy Rodriguez said earlier on Saturday.
Rodriguez reaffirmed that the Executive Branch “will not cease to condemn the criminal aggression” that led to Maduro’s kidnapping and his ongoing detention in New York during a speech that was aired on the state-run station Venezolana de Television (VTV).
