Television – Devoleena Bhattacharjee Calls This Ramadan Deeply Personal
Television – Television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee has said that this year’s Ramadan holds a special place in her heart, describing it as a time marked by stronger emotions, gratitude, and family bonding. The actress shared that the holy month feels more meaningful than ever as she embraces motherhood alongside her husband.

A Family-Focused Ramadan Celebration
Taking to Instagram, Devoleena posted two photographs featuring her husband, Shanwaz Shaikh, who is also her fitness trainer, along with their infant son, Joy. The images captured warm, intimate family moments, reflecting the spirit of togetherness she spoke about.
In her caption, the actress noted that this Ramadan feels different from previous years, filled with greater appreciation and affection. She expressed feeling blessed and highlighted the joy of spending meaningful time with her loved ones.
Marriage and Parenthood
Devoleena married Shanwaz Shaikh in 2022 in a private ceremony. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in December 2024. A month later, in January 2025, they introduced their son’s name, Joy, to their followers on social media, calling him their bundle of happiness.
Since becoming a mother, Devoleena has frequently shared glimpses of her evolving life, often speaking about how parenthood has reshaped her priorities and deepened her emotional outlook.
Journey from Design to Television Stardom
Before entering the entertainment industry, Devoleena worked as a jewellery designer in Mumbai. Her first brush with public attention came when she auditioned for the dance reality show Dance India Dance 2. Though she did not emerge as a finalist, the exposure opened doors for her in television.
She made her acting debut in 2011 with the show Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto. However, her major breakthrough came when she stepped into the role of Gopi Ahem Modi in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, replacing Giaa Manek. The character became widely popular and established her as a household name.
Despite contemplating leaving the show in 2014 and again in 2016 due to repeated storyline leaps, Devoleena continued portraying the role and completed five years on the series in June 2017. During her time on the show, she underwent spinal surgery following an injury sustained on set in 2013, a challenging phase she later described as transformative.
Reality Television and Comebacks
In 2019, Devoleena entered the 13th season of Bigg Boss as a celebrity contestant. However, she exited the reality show two months later in November, citing health concerns.
She returned to her iconic role in August 2020 when Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 was announced. Her comeback generated significant interest among fans who had closely followed her earlier performance.
In July 2024, she signed on to portray Goddess Chhathi Maiyya in Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya. However, by October 2024, she stepped away from the project due to her pregnancy, choosing to focus on her health and upcoming motherhood.
Celebrating Three Years of Marriage
In December, Devoleena marked three years of marriage with Shanwaz. Reflecting on the occasion, she described the anniversary as a tribute to her husband’s constant support and care.
In a heartfelt message shared online, she acknowledged how motherhood and family responsibilities often leave little time for social media updates. She said that life continues quietly in the background, but love remains steady and strong.
Expressing gratitude, she credited her husband for standing by her during postpartum recovery and throughout every stage of their journey together. She described him as patient and unwavering in his support, adding that with him by her side, living the life she once envisioned feels real and fulfilling.
As Devoleena embraces both her professional and personal milestones, this Ramadan stands as a reminder of faith, resilience, and the growing bonds within her family.
