Smita Patil: On the 39th anniversary of passing, Jackie Shroff pays tribute to her legacy
Smita Patil: On the 39th anniversary of the late actress Smita Patil’s passing, Jackie Shroff paid a touching homage to one of the most beloved actors in Indian film on Saturday.

Jackie posted a black-and-white photo of Smita Patil on Instagram Stories along with the caption, “Remembering Smita Patil ji on her death anniversary.” In our hearts at all times.
The poignant song “Shaam Hui” by Lata Mangeshkar from the 1985 movie Aakhir Kyon? accompanied the post.
Known for her unorthodox depiction of strong, independent women, Smita starred in more than 80 films over the course of a ten-year career and won two National Film Awards. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1985.
Charandas Chor, directed by Shyam Benegal, was the late star’s first motion picture appearance. In addition to starring in a number of popular films during her career, she went on to become one of the top actresses of parallel cinema, a New Wave trend in Indian cinema.
Aakrosh, Chakra, Namak Halaal, Bazaar, Umbartha, Shakti, Arth, Ardh Satya, Mandi, Aaj Ki Awaaz, Chidambaram, Mirch Masala, Amrit, Dance Dance, and Waaris are a some of her most well-known pieces.
She has a son, actor Prateik Smita Patil, with actor Raj Babbar, with whom she was married. Due to problems during delivery, she passed away on December 13, 1986, at the age of 31. After her passing, more than 10 of her films were released.
The last movie in which Smita appeared posthumously was Galiyon Ka Badshah. 1990 saw its release. Hema Malini, Mithun Chakraborty, Poonam Dhillon, Smita Patil, Aruna Irani, Ranjeet, Danny Denzongpa, Iftekhar, Om Shivpuri, and Raaj Kumar are among the film’s cast members.
