Dhurandhar Box Office Journey: A Strong Run Faces Its First Major Slowdown

Dhurandhar Box Office Journey: Aditya Dhar’s high-stakes spy thriller Dhurandhar has enjoyed an exceptional theatrical run since its release, establishing itself as one of the most talked-about Indian films of the year. Led by Ranveer Singh and supported by a powerful ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, the film opened to massive interest and sustained momentum for over two weeks. However, on its third Monday in cinemas, the film witnessed its first notable dip in daily earnings, signaling a natural slowdown after an extended period of dominance at the ticket counters.

Third Monday Performance and Box Office Dip

On its 18th day in theaters, Dhurandhar recorded a collection of Rs 16 crore, marking the first time since release that its daily earnings fell below the Rs 20 crore mark. This decline came immediately after a highly successful third weekend, during which the film earned approximately Rs 72.75 crore net. While the Monday drop was sharp compared to weekend figures, it was largely expected given weekday trends and the film’s already lengthy run.

Despite the fall, trade analysts view this slowdown as a sign of stabilization rather than decline, considering the massive numbers Dhurandhar has already achieved in a short span.

Total Earnings After 18 Days

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar has amassed a total domestic net collection of Rs 571.75 crore in just 18 days. The film’s third-week performance alone stands at Rs 111.25 crore so far. A breakdown of recent collections shows Rs 22.5 crore on Friday, Rs 34.25 crore on Saturday, Rs 38.5 crore on Sunday, followed by Rs 16 crore on Monday.

These figures underline the film’s strong hold even in its third week, a feat achieved by very few Indian releases in recent years.

Audience Occupancy Trends

On the third Monday, Dhurandhar registered an overall occupancy rate of 28.76 percent. Morning shows began at a relatively low 16.81 percent, which is typical for weekdays. However, attendance steadily improved as the day progressed. Afternoon occupancy reached 28.32 percent, evening shows peaked at 36.66 percent, and night screenings maintained a solid 33.24 percent. This upward trend throughout the day indicates sustained audience interest, particularly among urban viewers and evening audiences.

Day-Wise Collection Overview

The film’s consistent box office performance can be better understood through its day-wise collection data. Dhurandhar opened with Rs 28 crore on Day 1 and saw steady growth over its first weekend. Major spikes were recorded on Days 9 and 10, with collections of Rs 53 crore and Rs 58 crore respectively. Even after two weeks, the film continued to post strong weekday numbers, showcasing exceptional word-of-mouth and repeat value.

By Day 18, the total stood at Rs 571.75 crore, placing the film among the biggest domestic earners in Indian cinema.

Worldwide Milestones and Records

On Monday, December 22, Dhurandhar achieved another major milestone by crossing the Rs 850 crore mark at the worldwide box office. This made it only the second film of the year to reach this figure. The achievement also helped Dhurandhar surpass the global lifetime earnings of Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far.

Industry observers are now closely watching whether the film can cross the Rs 900 crore barrier globally. While it remains uncertain if it will surpass the lifetime collections of Animal, Dhurandhar has already secured its place among the most successful Indian films of all time.

Storyline and Cinematic Appeal

Dhurandhar is the first installment of a planned two-part franchise and centers on an undercover intelligence operative navigating the criminal and political underworld of Karachi over a decade-long mission. The narrative draws inspiration from several real-world geopolitical events, blending historical references with fictional storytelling. This grounded yet dramatic approach has resonated strongly with audiences, particularly fans of espionage and political thrillers.

Current Status and Audience Response

Released on December 5, Dhurandhar continues to perform well in theatres across the country. The film has broken multiple records, earned critical appreciation, and received praise from both audiences and celebrities. While weekday numbers may fluctuate going forward, its overall box office journey remains nothing short of remarkable.
