Even if the number is not stored on your phone or SIM card, this service displays the caller’s confirmed name. The name that appears is the same one that was registered with Aadhaar or other authorized KYC papers when the SIM was issued.
How Truecaller and CNAP Differ
Compared to programs like Truecaller, CNAP is essentially different. User-generated data is a major component of third-party caller ID applications, which often results in inaccurate names, spam tags, or false identities.
Conversely, the official and validated subscriber database kept up to date by telecom carriers serves as the only foundation for CNAP. This makes caller information more trustworthy by getting rid of phony names and lowering the possibility of misidentification.
Telecom Providers of CNAP

The states in which CNAP has been implemented
Bihar, UP East, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kerala, Assam, Jharkhand, and Odisha are among the states where Jio has reportedly already introduced CNAP.
In accordance with guidelines provided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, other providers are also progressively introducing the capability.
The TRAI Directive Behind the Rollout of CNAP
In order to safeguard consumers from fraud, spam, and cybercrime, TRAI has directed all telecom providers to implement a caller identification system. Even for unsaved numbers, confirmed caller identities are shown under CNAP.

Options for User Control and Network Support
By default, all 4G and higher networks have CNAP enabled. Users are still in charge, however, and they have the option to turn off the service.
When making calls, subscribers who have enabled the Calling Line Identification Restriction service will not be able to see their names.
BSNL Verifies the Arrival of CNAP
The general manager of BSNL’s Ayodhya Circle, Gyanendra Kumar Dwivedi, has verified that TRAI has given the instruction and that Caller ID would soon be available to BSNL users.
