Preparations for Oath Ceremony in New Delhi

Senior leaders from Bihar, including Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, arrived in New Delhi a day ahead of the ceremony. Their presence signals the importance of the occasion, as the oath-taking is expected to be attended by key figures from the ruling alliance.

Nitish Kumar had earlier resigned from his position as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30 after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, formally initiating his transition to national politics.

Indications of Imminent Resignation

Upon arriving in the national capital, Kumar confirmed that he would soon relinquish his post as Chief Minister. Speaking briefly to reporters, he suggested that his decision was driven by a sense of completion regarding his work in Bihar and a desire to focus on responsibilities at the national level.

He indicated that the resignation would likely take place within a few days, adding that a new Chief Minister and council of ministers would be appointed shortly thereafter. His remarks have effectively removed any uncertainty around the timeline of the transition.

Role of Party Leadership and Allies

Nitish Kumar was accompanied by senior party leader Sanjay Jha and Bihar minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary during his visit. Earlier statements from party leadership had hinted that the process of forming a new government in Bihar would begin after mid-April.

Meanwhile, leaders within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have reiterated their commitment to continuing the governance approach associated with Kumar’s tenure. According to Vijay Choudhary, the alliance intends to build upon the development framework established over the past two decades, ensuring continuity in policy direction.

Key Meetings Expected in the Capital

Following his swearing-in, Kumar is expected to take part in high-level discussions in New Delhi with senior central leadership. These meetings are likely to focus on finalising the roadmap for Bihar’s new government, including leadership selection and distribution of ministerial responsibilities.

Sources suggest that these deliberations will involve top decision-makers of the alliance, underlining the strategic importance of the transition. The outcome of these discussions is expected to shape Bihar’s political landscape in the coming weeks.

BJP Core Committee Discussions Underway

Parallel to these developments, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers are also expected to attend internal meetings of the BJP in the capital. These sessions are likely to address key issues such as leadership arrangements and coordination among alliance partners.

The presence of senior state leaders at these discussions highlights the coordinated effort within the NDA to ensure a smooth transfer of power without administrative disruption.

Transition Signals a New Phase for Bihar Politics

The sequence of events indicates that Bihar is entering a new political phase. With Nitish Kumar preparing to move to the Rajya Sabha and step away from state leadership, the alliance appears focused on maintaining stability while introducing new leadership.

The coming days are expected to bring clarity on the next Chief Minister and the composition of the new cabinet. For now, the emphasis remains on continuity, coordination, and a seamless transition as Bihar prepares for its next chapter.
