Nitish Kumar’s Son: A fresh political discussion has emerged in Bihar a day after senior leaders of the Janata Dal (United) openly expressed support for the possible entry of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son into electoral politics. The statements have triggered sharp reactions from the opposition and intensified debate around leadership succession and dynastic politics in the state.

Senior JD(U) leader and Phulwarisharif MLA Shyam Rajak on Saturday publicly supported the idea of Nishant Kumar entering active politics. Speaking to journalists in Patna, Rajak described Nishant Kumar as a capable and forward-looking individual, while making it clear that the final decision rests solely with him. According to Rajak, the party would welcome Nishant Kumar if he decides to take on a political role in the future.

Support from JD(U) Leadership

Rajak praised Nishant Kumar’s personal qualities and educational background, portraying him as someone who could connect with the younger generation. He stated that Nishant Kumar possesses intellectual depth, energy, and leadership potential, qualities that could prove beneficial not only for the youth but also for the broader development of Bihar. However, he emphasized that entering politics is a personal choice and should not be forced upon anyone.

The remarks came a day after Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, hinted at a similar view during a public programme. His comments further fueled speculation that the JD(U) leadership may be preparing the ground for Nishant Kumar’s political debut.

Opposition Reaction from RJD

The Rashtriya Janata Dal responded strongly to these developments, accusing the ruling party of attempting a carefully planned political launch. RJD state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed alleged that recent events and public appearances were part of a deliberate strategy to build momentum for Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics.

Ahmed claimed that activities at the JD(U) office during the Saraswati Puja celebrations were not spontaneous. According to him, these events were designed to create a favorable environment and public narrative around Nishant Kumar as a future political figure. He further alleged that the Chief Minister had already begun informally introducing his son to visitors at his official residence, reinforcing speculation about an impending political role.

Allegations of Dynastic Politics

Taking his criticism further, the RJD spokesperson accused the JD(U) leadership of hypocrisy on the issue of dynastic politics. He argued that while the party has long projected Nitish Kumar as a leader opposed to political dynasties, recent statements by senior leaders suggest a contradictory approach.

Ahmed stated that the public endorsements by JD(U) leaders could not have happened without the Chief Minister’s consent. He alleged that Nitish Kumar, who has traditionally portrayed himself as a socialist leader against family-based politics, now appears to be softening that stance. According to the RJD, this shift could dilute the Chief Minister’s long-standing political image.

Nishant Kumar’s Silence

Despite the growing political chatter, Nishant Kumar himself has not issued any formal statement regarding his entry into active politics. His silence has only added to the speculation, with supporters and critics alike interpreting the developments in different ways. While JD(U) leaders continue to describe him as a promising youth leader, the opposition remains skeptical of the intentions behind these endorsements.

Recent Events Fuel Speculation

On Friday, a Saraswati Puja programme organized by the JD(U) IT Cell added fuel to the ongoing debate. The event was attended by several senior leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Lalan Singh, and Nishant Kumar. During the programme, Lalan Singh reportedly remarked that the Chief Minister should now consider allowing his son to join politics, a comment that quickly drew public attention.

As endorsements from within the JD(U) grow and opposition attacks sharpen, the question of Nishant Kumar’s political future is becoming a significant topic in Bihar’s political landscape. Whether he chooses to step into electoral politics or remain outside the political arena, the discussion itself highlights the evolving dynamics within the state’s ruling party and the broader debate on leadership and legacy.
