BiharPolitics –  Senior leaders of the Janata Dal (United) have formally submitted nomination papers on behalf of Nitish Kumar for the post of national president, indicating that he is likely to continue at the helm of the party for a fourth consecutive term. Leadership Backed by Party Consensus

Confirming the development, Sanjay Kumar Jha, the party’s national working president, stated that the nomination was filed following widespread support from party members. Speaking to reporters, he noted that the decision was not individual but collective, as workers and leaders alike expressed their preference for Nitish Kumar’s continued leadership.

He added that the deadline for filing nominations is March 22, suggesting that the process is nearing completion and that Kumar’s continuation appears almost certain.

Senior Leaders Emphasise Stability

Echoing similar sentiments, Ram Nath Thakur described Nitish Kumar as a guiding figure for the party. He highlighted that party workers had strongly advocated for his nomination, underlining the trust placed in his leadership. According to Thakur, Kumar’s role is not limited to organisational responsibilities but also extends to overseeing the broader development of Bihar.

This reaffirmation of leadership comes at a time when the party is focusing on both internal strengthening and governance priorities in the state.

KC Tyagi Addresses Speculation

Meanwhile, senior leader KC Tyagi clarified his position regarding recent internal developments. He stated that his absence from the party’s latest membership drive should not be interpreted as a sign of disagreement or conflict with Nitish Kumar.

Tyagi, who has been associated with the party since its formation alongside leaders like George Fernandes and Sharad Yadav, emphasized that his relationship with both the party and Nitish Kumar remains unchanged.

Addressing speculation about his political ambitions, Tyagi firmly denied any link between his actions and a potential Rajya Sabha seat. He pointed out that there has never been an instance where he actively sought a ticket for the Upper House, reinforcing that his decisions are not driven by personal aspirations.

Longstanding Political Association

Tyagi also spoke about his decades-long association with Nitish Kumar, tracing their shared political journey through various phases, including movements led by Jayaprakash Narayan and subsequent political formations. He reiterated that he has not resigned from the party and continues to remain part of its broader framework.

His remarks aim to put an end to speculation and underline unity within the party ranks during a crucial political period.

NDA Secures All Rajya Sabha Seats in Bihar

On the electoral front, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a clean sweep in the Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar, winning all five seats. Sanjay Kumar Jha expressed confidence in the outcome, stating that the alliance had a clear numerical advantage from the outset, which translated into a smooth victory.

He further noted that the focus now shifts to development work in Bihar, with expectations from the public continuing to grow.

Opposition Criticised After Results

Reacting to the results, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha criticised the opposition, suggesting that their inability to secure votes reflected internal weaknesses. He remarked that allegations tend to surface only after electoral setbacks, pointing to what he described as a lack of preparedness among opposition parties.

Rajya Sabha Elections Across States

The recent biennial Rajya Sabha elections were conducted to fill 37 seats across 10 states. While 26 candidates were elected unopposed, voting took place for the remaining seats, including the five contested in Bihar. The results in the state have further strengthened the NDA’s position, both regionally and nationally.

With Nitish Kumar poised to continue leading JD(U), the party appears set to maintain organisational stability while aligning its political strategy with broader alliance dynamics.
