Bihar: Deputy Chief Ministers Nitish Kumar celebrate the New Year

Bihar: The joyous mood that started on December 31 continued on Thursday as Bihar celebrated the New Year with a wave of festivities.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and a number of other high-ranking officials wished the nation’s and the state’s citizens a happy New Year amid the festivities.

“Best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to the people of the state and the country on the occasion of the New Year,” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in a post on X. I want God to provide you all joy, peace, prosperity, harmony, and unending success in the next year. The goal of creating a joyful, wealthy, and magnificent Bihar will be achieved with everyone’s combined efforts.”

Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary posted sentiments on X, saying, “Best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to all the people of the state and the nation on the occasion of the #English_New_Year 2026. May every town, city, and family in Bihar have joy, wealth, health, and renewed vitality in the next year. Together, let’s fortify our will to create a powerful, independent, and advanced Bihar.

A similar statement was released by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who said, “Best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to all Bihar residents on the English New Year 2026. May everyone’s life be filled with joy, wealth, health, and wellbeing in the new year.

In the meanwhile, a sizable crowd was seen attending gurdwaras and temples in Patna and other Bihar districts to worship at the start of the new year.

A lengthy line of worshippers was seen in Patna outside the Hanuman Temple in Patna Junction, extending all the way to R-Block Golambar. Devotees flocked to the Badi and Choti Patan Devi temples, as well as the Rajvanshi Nagar Hanuman Temple, in similar numbers.

Significant numbers of Sikh devotees were also seen praying for peace, prosperity, and well-being in the next year at the Takht Shri Harimandir Sahib Gurdwara in Patna.

People prayed for pleasure, harmony, and advancement during the solemn and devotional rituals, which signaled a hopeful start to 2026.
