Retail Fuel Outlets Operating Without Disruption

In an official statement, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that all retail fuel outlets are operating normally nationwide. The clarification comes amid reports of panic buying in certain regions, which authorities attribute to misinformation circulating among the public.

The ministry stressed that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel, and adequate stocks are available at fuel stations across the country. Citizens have been advised to rely only on verified information and avoid unnecessary stockpiling.

Refineries Running at High Capacity

To ensure uninterrupted energy supply, all domestic refineries are currently operating at high capacity. Officials noted that sufficient crude oil reserves are in place to support ongoing production.

Additionally, domestic LPG output from refineries has been increased to meet household demand. Despite challenges arising from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the government stated that supply chains are being actively managed to avoid disruptions.

LPG Supply Remains Stable for Households

While the geopolitical situation has had some impact on LPG logistics, the ministry confirmed that domestic LPG deliveries continue without interruption. There have been no reports of shortages at distribution centers, and cylinder deliveries are proceeding as scheduled.

To further support essential services, the government has increased the allocation of commercial LPG to states and union territories. This expanded allocation now covers up to 50 percent, benefiting sectors such as restaurants, hotels, industrial kitchens, and community food programs.

Additional Measures to Ease Demand Pressure

To reduce dependence on LPG, the government has also increased the supply of kerosene. An additional allocation of 48,000 kilolitres has been distributed to states and union territories, supplementing regular supplies.

Officials reported strong demand for smaller LPG cylinders, with over 37,000 units sold in a single day. These cylinders are particularly useful for migrant workers and low-income households.

Crackdown on Hoarding and Black Marketing

Authorities have intensified enforcement efforts to prevent hoarding and black marketing of fuel products. State governments, empowered under the Essential Commodities Act, are taking strict action against violations.

Large-scale inspections are underway across the country. So far, more than 2,600 raids have been conducted, resulting in the seizure of over 450 LPG cylinders. Law enforcement agencies have registered more than 680 cases and arrested nearly 200 individuals in connection with illegal activities.

States Asked to Strengthen Public Communication

The central government has urged state authorities to maintain clear and consistent communication with the public. Daily press briefings at state and district levels have been recommended to counter misinformation and keep citizens informed.

Officials have also been instructed to monitor social media platforms closely and respond swiftly to false claims that may trigger unnecessary panic.

Maritime and Port Operations Continue Smoothly

On the logistics front, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is closely tracking developments to ensure smooth trade operations. Port activities across India remain normal, with no signs of congestion or delays.

The government also confirmed that Indian seafarers in the region are safe, and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Support for Indians in West Asia

The Ministry of External Affairs continues to assist Indian nationals in West Asia. Ensuring their safety and well-being remains a top priority.

With flight operations gradually improving, a significant number of Indians have already returned home. Since late February, approximately 4.5 lakh passengers have been brought back to India.

Government Urges Calm and Responsible Consumption

Reiterating its message, the government has advised citizens to avoid panic buying and use fuel responsibly. People are encouraged to depend only on official sources for accurate updates and to contribute to maintaining stability in the energy supply system.
