Election – TMC Expresses Confidence as Bhabanipur Battle Heats Up

Election –  The political atmosphere in West Bengal is gradually intensifying as key parties prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections, with leaders stepping up their campaign narratives and strategies. On Tuesday, Trinamool Congress leader Debasish Kumar reiterated his party’s firm approach toward elections, stating that every contest is treated with equal seriousness, regardless of the opposition.

TMC Maintains Confident Stance

Speaking about the electoral contest in Bhabanipur, Kumar expressed strong confidence in his party’s prospects. He indicated that the outcome, in his view, is already evident, suggesting that the party is simply awaiting formal confirmation through the results. His remarks underline the confidence within the Trinamool Congress camp as it heads into a crucial electoral battle.

Kumar also emphasized that the party does not underestimate any opponent, highlighting a consistent strategy of approaching each election with full preparation and focus. This approach, he suggested, has been a key factor in the party’s past performances.

Amit Shah Visit Downplayed

The TMC leader also responded to the scheduled visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to West Bengal on March 28. Kumar dismissed the significance of the visit, recalling similar political rallies during previous elections. According to him, such visits have not altered electoral outcomes in the past and are unlikely to influence voters significantly this time.

His comments reflect a broader attempt by the ruling party to project stability and confidence, even as national-level leaders intensify their campaign presence in the state.

BJP Prepares Major Manifesto Launch

On the other side, the Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up for a significant political event with the release of its election manifesto on March 28. The event is expected to outline the party’s plans, policy priorities, and vision for governance in West Bengal.

Senior leaders from the party, along with Amit Shah, are expected to attend the launch. The manifesto is likely to play a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s campaign narrative and appealing to voters across the state. Political observers see this as an important step in consolidating the party’s position ahead of polling.

High-Profile Contest in Bhabanipur

The Bhabanipur constituency is set to witness a closely watched contest, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee prepares to contest from the seat. She will once again face BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, making it a repeat of their earlier political rivalry.

Their previous contest in Nandigram during the 2021 Assembly elections drew significant attention, with Adhikari securing a narrow victory. Following that result, Banerjee entered the Assembly through a by-election from Bhabanipur after the sitting MLA vacated the seat.

This renewed face-off adds further political significance to the Bhabanipur contest, making it one of the most closely followed battles in the upcoming elections.

Election Schedule and Key Dates

The West Bengal Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases. The first phase of polling is scheduled for April 23, while the second phase will take place on April 29. The counting of votes is set for May 4, when the final results will determine the political direction of the state.

As the campaign progresses, both major parties are expected to intensify their outreach efforts, with rallies, manifesto promises, and strategic messaging playing a central role. The coming days are likely to witness heightened political activity, as leaders aim to connect with voters and strengthen their positions ahead of polling.
