Bengaluru Police : Uncover Multi-State Narcotics Network in Coordinated January Operation
Bengaluru police : have arrested 10 individuals, most of them from outside Karnataka, following a coordinated operation that uncovered an alleged narcotics distribution network operating across state lines. The multi-day action, carried out in January, resulted in the seizure of banned drugs, vehicles, electronic devices, and cash with an estimated total value of around Rs 4 crore, according to officials familiar with the investigation.

Tip-Off Triggers Swift Police Action
The operation was set in motion on January 19 after officers from the Amruthahalli Police Station received specific and credible information from an informant. The tip suggested that a group was attempting to sell prohibited narcotic substances near the Jakkur railway track, an area falling within the station’s jurisdiction. Acting promptly, a special police team moved to the location and conducted a targeted raid.
Four individuals were detained at the spot, including two who had travelled from other states. Their arrest marked the first breakthrough in what would soon expand into a wider probe.
Interrogation Reveals Supply and Distribution Methods
During questioning, investigators say the arrested suspects disclosed details about how the drugs were sourced and sold. The accused allegedly admitted to procuring substances such as hydro ganja, MDMA, charas, LSD strips, and ganja from suppliers based outside Karnataka and, in some cases, from abroad. These substances were reportedly purchased at lower rates and sold locally at significantly higher prices.
From the initial arrests, police recovered 1 kilogram of hydro ganja, 50 grams of MDMA, 500 grams of charas, 8 kilograms of ganja, and six mobile phones believed to have been used for coordination and transactions. A case was registered under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Second Round of Arrests on Kanakapura Road
The investigation quickly progressed, leading officers to Kaggalipura on Kanakapura Road the following day, January 20. There, police arrested five more individuals, all of whom were from other states. Officials said sustained interrogation linked them directly to the same narcotics network identified a day earlier.
Their statements provided additional leads, helping investigators map out supply routes and identify storage points used by the group.
Fresh Seizures Based on Accused Statements
On January 21, information shared by the newly arrested suspects led police to the GKVK ground area. A search conducted there resulted in the seizure of another 2 kilograms of hydro ganja, one car, eight mobile phones, and Rs 36,000 in cash. The five accused were produced before a court later that day and were remanded to seven days of police custody to allow further questioning.
Final Arrest Near Mysuru Road
The operation concluded on January 22 with the arrest of one additional suspect near the Satellite Bus Stand on Mysuru Road. Police recovered 500 LSD strips and 2 kilograms of ganja from this individual, who was also from another state.
Ongoing Probe to Trace Wider Links
In total, authorities have seized 3 kilograms of hydro ganja, 50 grams of MDMA, 500 grams of charas, 500 LSD strips, and 10 kilograms of ganja, along with two cars, 14 mobile phones, and cash. Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying suppliers, financial channels, and other possible links connected to the network.
