Viral Reddit Rant Post: A viral rant about food, jobs, safety, and pollution sparks debate as a man compares the NCR to Bangalore and Pune
Viral Reddit Rant Post: Reddit and social media are dominated by an angry Delhi NCR resident’s late-night tirade, which has sparked a new debate on whether the area is still worth preserving or is gradually losing its allure. An IT worker who was obviously worn out by what he described as the “everyday reality of life in NCR” posted a lengthy post on r/delhi, sparking the conversation. The guy, who claimed to have been “born and brought up in Noida,” clarified that he had just spent a week in Pune and that his job had allowed him to dwell in places like Bangalore and Hyderabad.

“Delhi NCR is cooked, no point of defending it now,” was the subject of the post, and it didn’t take long to deliver its strongest blow. He remarked simply after comparing other cities, “After seeing all this, I honestly feel Delhi NCR is done.”
The first thing that let him down was food. He claims that Southern cities are doing far better, particularly for non-vegetarians. He provided evidence for this by contrasting costs and cleanliness. According to him, “In the South, you can easily eat well for Rs 100-150, and a proper biryani won’t cost more than 200.” However, he said that “you’ll get unhygienic Moradabadi-style biryani at best” in the NCR for Rs 200.
Opportunities for employment were another significant source of his annoyance. As an IT professional, he believed that NCR was no longer able to compete. “As an IT professional, there’s no comparison,” he added, adding that places like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune offer even greater compensation packages and are “way ahead of North India in tech opportunities.”
He acknowledged that traffic is a problem in all major cities. He added, “Traffic is bad everywhere,” adding that although the NCR may fare a little better, all metros seem similarly frantic during rush hour. Next were safety and nightlife. He recalled that while he was in Pune, he saw people “roaming freely, enjoying winters at 12:30 am.” In comparison, he said that in the NCR, “you think twice before stepping out after 10-11 pm.”
The speaker made his point on housing by utilizing sarcasm. He discussed real estate pricing and said that the NCR is the only region where it “beats” the South. “In places like Gurgaon, you won’t get anything decent under 101.5 crore,” he said, but “in Pune (Kharadi), you can get a decent 2BHK on the same budget.”
Air pollution, however, infuriated him more than anything else. He commented, “No comparison at all,” noting that “the AQI in Noida/Delhi is around 700+.” He said that people’s acceptance of unclean air as the usual is the true problem, not only the air itself.

The article concluded with a scathing warning for supporters of the NCR. “If you are still defending Delhi, then you haven’t visited any other city yet,” he said.
Both sides responded strongly to the message when it became viral. While some vehemently supported Delhi NCR, others shared his anguish. The question of whether the NCR is lagging behind India’s other major cities is still up for dispute, however.
