UP News: The Center approves a project to reduce heavy pilgrimage traffic, and Brijghat will get a new bypass
UP News: Brijghat commuters and pilgrims will soon see a significant alleviation from the heavy traffic congestion that happens on weekends, Amavasya, and Purnima. In response to a proposal by Garhmukteshwar-Amroha MP Kanwar Singh Tanwar, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has authorized the building of a new bypass in the pilgrimage town.

Developed as a “mini Haridwar,” Brijghat draws thousands of pilgrims every day to take a sacred plunge in the Ganga. On auspicious days, the number of visitors rises to lakhs, causing severe traffic jams between Garhmukteshwar and Brijghat. Traveling even small distances may become challenging.
According to MP Kanwar Singh Tanwar, the project has been approved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and work is anticipated to start in January.
On the Meerut-Garhmukteshwar road, which runs from Dautai village to Allabakhshpur, a bypass is already being built. Originally, it was intended to reroute traffic back onto the Delhi-Lucknow highway, however this would have caused a bottleneck and not solved the congestion. It is anticipated that the approval of the planned bypass would greatly reduce traffic congestion and assist the town’s many fans.
