Elections – Mayawati Declares BSP Will Contest 2027 Polls Alone

Elections – Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has made it clear that her party will not enter into any alliance for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Dismissing recent discussions about a possible electoral tie-up, she stated that the BSP is preparing to contest the polls independently with the goal of securing a full majority in the state.

Speculation Dismissed as Baseless

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mayawati rejected media reports suggesting that the party was in talks with other political groups. She described such claims as unfounded and politically motivated. According to her, these narratives are being deliberately circulated to create confusion among voters and party supporters.

She pointed out that she has consistently maintained in public forums that the BSP will rely on its own organisational strength in the upcoming election. There has been no change in that position, she said, urging people not to be misled by what she called fabricated stories.

Reference to Kanshi Ram Anniversary Rally

Mayawati recalled the large gathering held in Lucknow on October 9, 2025, to mark the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram. At that event, she said, the party had openly declared its intention to fight the 2027 election independently. Despite this clear message, she alleged that certain political rivals continue to spread rumours as part of a strategy to weaken the BSP.

She argued that these attempts are aimed at diverting attention from the party’s preparations and organisational work at the grassroots level. According to her, party workers remain focused on strengthening their base rather than responding to speculation.

Criticism of Rival Parties

Without naming specific leaders, Mayawati criticised the policies and approach of major parties including the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party. She said their political direction does not reflect the principles laid down by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, whose ideology the BSP claims to uphold.

She maintained that alliances formed purely for electoral arithmetic often lack ideological coherence. In her view, past tie-ups had not yielded long-term benefits for the BSP. Therefore, under what she described as “Mission 2027,” the party is concentrating on consolidating its support base independently.

Clarification on Delhi Residence

Addressing a separate controversy regarding the allocation of a Type-8 bungalow in Delhi, Mayawati said the matter was being unnecessarily politicised. She explained that she had earlier been assigned a high-security residence due to security concerns.

Referring to the June 2, 1995, State Guest House incident in Lucknow, she noted that her security cover was upgraded after that episode. The current accommodation, she said, has been provided in line with those security requirements. She also clarified that the newly allotted residence replaces the earlier Type-8 bungalow at 3 Thyagaraj Marg.

According to her, the issue should not be viewed through a political lens, as it pertains to official security arrangements.

Call for Organisational Focus

With the Assembly elections approaching in the coming years, Mayawati cautioned party members that rival groups may attempt to create divisions or spread misinformation. She urged workers and supporters to remain vigilant and concentrate on strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots level.

She also reminded them of the BSP’s majority victory in 2007, describing it as an example of what disciplined organisation and focused campaigning can achieve. Her appeal was for renewed dedication to the party’s mission and to the broader social movement inspired by Ambedkar’s ideals.

As political activity gradually intensifies in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati’s statement signals that the BSP intends to chart its own course in the 2027 contest, banking on its independent strength rather than coalition politics.
