Board Exams – The Uttar Pradesh Board examinations for high school and intermediate students commenced across the state on Tuesday, marking the beginning of one of the largest academic exercises in the country. More than 53 lakh candidates are set to appear for the exams at thousands of centres equipped with enhanced monitoring systems.

Minister Reviews Arrangements and Launches Control Room
On the opening day, Minister of State for Secondary Education (Independent Charge) Gulab Devi visited several examination centres to review arrangements. She interacted with students, offered them sweets, and extended her good wishes before they entered their examination halls.
The minister also inaugurated a state-level control room at the Director of Education (Secondary) camp office in Lucknow. Officials said the control room has been equipped with modern technology to ensure real-time oversight and maintain transparency throughout the examination process. The initiative aims to create a secure environment and curb any irregularities.
Extensive Monitoring in Prayagraj
In Prayagraj, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma outlined the local administrative preparations. According to him, over 1.95 lakh students in the district are appearing for the examinations this year across 333 centres. Each centre is being monitored through CCTV cameras to ensure strict vigilance.
He stated that coordination meetings were held with police officials and school authorities in advance. Clear directives have been issued to maintain a fair examination process. Authorities have been instructed to prevent any malpractice, and strict action has been promised against those found violating the rules. Administrators at examination centres have been reminded of their responsibility to provide students with a disciplined and supportive atmosphere.
Over 53 Lakh Students Registered Across the State
As per official data, a total of 53,37,778 students have registered for the examinations this year. This includes 27,61,696 high school candidates and 25,76,082 intermediate students.
The examinations are being conducted at 8,033 centres spread across Uttar Pradesh. Among these, 596 are government institutions, 3,453 are government-aided schools, and 3,984 are self-financed institutions. Authorities have identified 18 districts as sensitive zones. Additionally, 222 centres have been categorised as highly sensitive and 683 as sensitive, prompting tighter security and supervision at these locations.
Multi-Tier Administrative Deployment
To reinforce the examination framework, the state government has implemented a layered administrative system. Each of the 8,033 centres has been assigned a centre administrator and an external centre administrator. An equal number of static magistrates have also been deployed.
Beyond this, 1,210 sector magistrates and 427 zonal magistrates have been appointed to oversee broader areas. The state has further constituted 69 divisional mobile squads and 440 district-level mobile teams to conduct surprise inspections. Supervisory officers have been designated for all 75 districts and 18 divisions to maintain consistent oversight during the examination period.
Officials emphasised that these measures are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and smooth conduct of the examinations without disruption.
Helpline Numbers and Grievance Channels Activated
To assist students and their families, authorities have activated dedicated helpline services. The state-level control room in Lucknow has issued toll-free numbers 18001806607 and 18001806608. Meanwhile, the Board of Secondary Education headquartered in Prayagraj has operationalised additional helpline numbers, 18001805310 and 18001805312.
Candidates and parents can also raise concerns or seek information through email and official social media platforms, including Facebook and X. WhatsApp support has also been made available. Control centres are functioning not only at the Prayagraj headquarters but also at regional offices in Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly, and Gorakhpur.
With extensive monitoring arrangements and administrative deployment in place, authorities have expressed confidence that the examinations will proceed smoothly while ensuring a secure and transparent environment for students across the state.
