On December 16, Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed fast bowler Jacob Duffy in the IPL 2026 auction. Duffy had an outstanding performance, taking five wickets for the Black Caps and sending three Windies hitters back to the pavilion with spinner Ajaz Patel. In the first innings, Duffy also claimed four wickets, earning him the title of Player of the Series.

According to the most recent reports, the victory also gave New Zealand a significant boost in the WTC 2025–27 points table, as they moved up from third to second place. The 2021 WTC champions now have a 77.77 PCT% and 28 points. They overtook South Africa, who now have a 75 PCT% record.

However, at 4.16 PCT% (down from 4.76 PCT%), the West Indies continue to be at the bottom of the points table. The West Indies will undoubtedly not advance to the WTC finals in 2025–2027 after putting up a lackluster effort in the previous three tournaments. In the current WTC cycle, the Caribbeans have lost seven of the eight Test matches they have played.

WTC 2025–27 points table was updated after New Zealand’s victory against the West Indies in the third Test match.

Following their decisive victory over England in the third Test of the current Ashes, Australia solidified their hold on the top spot in the WTC rankings. They are leading the five-match Test series 3-0 and have kept the Ashes. In the current WTC 2025-27 cycle, the 2023 winners have won each of the six games so far. Their credit score is 100% PCT and 72 points.

However, England is still ranked seventh. In WTC 2025–27, the Ben Stokes-led team has only won two of eight games. India’s 48.15 PCT% puts them in sixth position. In the current WTC cycle, the two-time losing finalists have won four of the nine games that have been played.
