Virat Kohli takes Shubman Gill by the arm and leads him into a brief strategy discussion with KL Rahul, saying, “Captain ka darja.”

India entered the third and final match with a desperate attempt to salvage some honor and prevent a clean sweep, as they were already down 0–2 in the three-match ODI series. Australia chose to bat first after winning the toss. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, the visitors’ openers, got off to a strong start by combining for 61 runs, which put India’s bowlers to the test right away. Shubman Gill attempted a number of tactics, but at first nothing appeared to work. At that point, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma took center stage. In the end, Australia was bowled out for 236 runs against India.

Even though Shubman Gill is India’s captain, previous captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were a huge help with their presence and advice. Gill has had little success with the bat and the throw throughout his stay so far.

He has only won one toss in ten games since taking over as India’s Test captain in June, and he hasn’t reached a fifty in white-ball cricket since the IPL. The SCG match was an opportunity for India to win a consolation match after they had already lost the ODI series.

Gill’s leadership was excellent today, beginning with two significant changes: Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy were replaced in the starting lineup by Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav.

Despite Australia’s aggressive start, Gill’s wise leadership quickly took center stage. He was successful in limiting Australia’s scores in the middle overs by skillfully rotating spinners Kuldeep, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel.

Gill stayed involved the whole time thanks to former skipper Kohli.
Gill was fielding again when Kohli took him by the arm and dragged him into a brief conversation with wicketkeeper KL Rahul.

Gill listened carefully while Kohli spoke; the exchange lasted about 10 seconds. Even though it was brief, the exchange had an instant effect on India’s bowling and fielding.

“Virat Kohli is seen here conversing with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. Since the past few overs, I’ve seen the participation. He’s got the experience. Darja shayad nahi ho par experience hai, captain ka. They have the experience, even if they aren’t captains. KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, or Rohit Sharma. They may impart all of their expertise, but Gill will ultimately decide whether or not to put it into practice,” the commentator said.

India was defeated by two wickets in the second ODI in Adelaide after losing the first ODI in Perth by seven wickets (DLS).
