The Cricket Australia Boss Teases Virat Kohli’s Comeback Down Under: “It Is Realistic Over Time”

According to Todd Greenberg, the manager of Cricket Australia, it is reasonable to anticipate that Virat Kohli will play more cricket in his later years in Australia. He hopes that once he quits from international cricket, he would be able to participate in the Big Bash League.

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League earlier this year and from international cricket last year, was the league’s biggest acquisition this season.

Ashwin has committed to a full-season deal with the Sydney Thunder, making him the first Indian player to compete in the Big Bash League this summer.

Ashwin’s appointment coincides with Cricket Australia’s consideration of allowing private investment in the league and its clubs in an effort to bring in new revenue.

Given that the Indian great has already ended his Test and T20I careers, Saturday’s ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground may be his last international appearance in Australia.

In order to participate in foreign competitions, Indian players must retire from both local and international cricket, which also means giving up the lucrative Indian Premier League.

It’s uncertain whether this regulation would alter if Indian teams kept purchasing teams overseas after making investments in South Africa, England, the United Arab Emirates, and the Caribbean.

I believe it is feasible in the near to medium term. We will continue the conversation. The West Australian reported Greenberg as stating, “I think the arrival of Ravichandran Ashwin is a really important moment for the BBL and it will highlight the strength of bringing Indian players into the league.”

It remains to be seen, in my opinion, how it plays out over time. We are open to discussing whether or not to include private money in the BBL, which will determine some of that,” Greenberg said.
