IPL 2026 Auction Update: 35 Unexpected Entries, Including Former KCR and RCB Stars, After BCCI Removes 1005 Players From Mini Auction List
IPL 2026 Auction Update: The BCCI has a staggering 1005 names from the lengthy list, which means that just 350 players will be up for grabs in the next IPL 2026 auction, which is slated for Tuesday, December 16 in Abu Dhabi. This is an intriguing development.

According to earlier estimates, 1355 participants have signed up for the auction. The BCCI has now made considerable adjustments to this roster, however, and numerous new players have been included after several rounds of franchise swaps. Quinton de Kock, the senior batter for South Africa, will now participate in the mini auction after not being included in the original list, according to a report in Cricbuzz.
In the last ODI of the three-match series against India, De Kock, who had just come out of international retirement, hit a century. He has lowered his basic price to Rs 1 crore, a 50% decrease from the previous season. De Kock was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 2 crore in the last super auction, but after a poor season, he was let go.
The amended document also includes a number of new international players, such as Dunith Wellalage, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera, and Traveen Mathew of Sri Lanka. However, others like Akeem Auguste from the West Indies and Arab Gul from Afghanistan also make their debut.
The IPL 2026 auction will begin in accordance with the BCCI’s system, with the capped players organized by specialized roles (batters, all-rounders, wicketkeeper-batters, fast bowlers, and spinners) and the uncapped players put in the same order. Notable players including Cameron Green, Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Prithvi Shaw, and David Miller are part of the first group (BA1), while Venkatesh Iyer is in the AL1 all-rounders bracket. The expedited portion of the mini auction is apparently scheduled to start after the 70th participant, according to the board.
Arab Gul (Afghanistan), Miles Hammond (England), Dan Lategan (England), Quinton de Kock (South Africa), Connor Eztherhuizen (South Africa), George Linde (South Africa), Bayanda Majola (South Africa), Traveen Mathew (Sri Lanka), Binura Fernando (Sri Lanka), Kusal Perera (Sri Lanka), Dunith Wellalage (Sri Lanka), and Akeem Auguste (West Indies) are new additions to the IPL auction in 2026.
