Korea briefly took the lead in the 46th minute when Yeongeun Park converted a scoring opportunity. However, Wales captain Elizabeth Bingham quickly shifted the momentum back in her team’s favour.

Another chance arrived in the 27th minute when India tried a variation during a penalty corner. The ball was played back to captain Salima Tete, but her shot was blocked on the goal line by an Italian defender. Shortly afterwards, India received another penalty corner, though Navneet Kaur’s effort went wide.
