Vijay: December 18 Erode campaign will only last two hours, according to TVK
Vijay: Actor-politician Vijay, the head of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), would run for office in Erode on December 18, according to a statement by party Executive Committee Chief Coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan. The event is scheduled to last for two hours.

The statement claims that the campaign will take place close to the Vijayamangalam toll plaza and that all preparations are being done fully in compliance with the requirements set out by the authorities.
It addressed concerns expressed in certain areas by clarifying that the location chosen for the program is not owned by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.
The statement said that the initiative conforms entirely with administrative and legal requirements and that there are no limitations on running the campaign on property controlled by the Vijayapuri Amman Temple.
In the statement, the former minister said that it will be clearer later who political figures joined TVK during Erode.
He reaffirmed that anybody may join TVK and emphasized that party president Vijay alone would make choices on partnerships. In the statement, the senior leader also expressed his profound satisfaction with his position at TVK.
Noting that he had served the AIADMK under the leadership of M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, Sengottaiyan said, “Under Vijay’s leadership, I feel a similar sense of purpose and confidence in TVK.”
With the official debut of TVK earlier this year, Vijay made a bold foray into Tamil Nadu’s political politics. Ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, the party has positioned itself as a people-centric political alternative and has grown its organizational structure across the State since its founding.
The decision to shorten the Erode campaign’s run coincides with more attention being paid to crowd safety after a recent stampede at an event connected to TVK. To avoid congestion, the party leadership has tightened safety regulations and adjusted campaign timetables.
Given his tremendous influence in western Tamil Nadu, Sengottaiyan’s admission into TVK is seen as a major political event. It is anticipated that his affiliation would improve the party’s administrative capabilities and organizational foundation.
As TVK continues its outreach across the State, juggling mass mobilization with safety and regulatory compliance, the Erode campaign is anticipated to garner a great deal of public attention.
