Rahul vs. Priyanka voices in the Cong: Imran Masood suggests Wayanad MP as the PM’s face

Rahul vs. Priyanka voices in the Cong: Imran Masood, a member of the Congress Lok Sabha, made a strong case on Tuesday for Wayanad MP and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as a possible prime ministerial contender, comparing her to former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Masood made the comments in response to BJP criticism on Priyanka Gandhi’s perceived lack of vocal opposition to atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.

He said that Priyanka Gandhi had the same will and ability to combat anti-Indian sentiment in the South Asian country that her grandmother, Indira Gandhi, had shown when she dealt with Pakistan.

“Priyanka Gandhi had raised her voice foremost last time when violence took place in Bangladesh,” Masood told IANS. As with Indira Gandhi, make Priyanka Gandhi prime minister first and then observe her reaction. Priyanka Gandhi will approach Bangladesh in a way that prevents it from becoming a center of anti-Indian narratives, much as Indira Gandhi split Pakistan in two.

In an oblique answer, Masood emphasized the political and ideological solidarity between the brothers when asked what role Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi would play if Priyanka Gandhi were to become prime minister.

“Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi are like two eyes of one face; they will both act in the same way. They are Indira Gandhi’s grandkids. You cannot see things in an other way,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi has long been seen by the Congress as its main candidate for prime minister, and Masood’s comments coincide with a continuing political dispute among the opposition about strategy and leadership.

Prior to this, Priyanka Gandhi, a new member of parliament, took the lead for the Indian Overseas Congress in the Lok Sabha while her brother was away in Germany attending an event.

Her scathing criticism of the administration during the Vande Mataram discussion immediately became well-known and went viral.

Priyanka Gandhi, the MP for Wayanad, was seen leading the opposition parties’ walkout from the Lok Sabha in protest over the VB-G RAM G Bill.

She spearheaded the march inside the Parliament building while carrying a picture of Mahatma Gandhi and shouting anti-Bill chants.

Congress garnered a lot of attention for its vigorous opposition to the Act, both within and outside of Parliament, even though Rahul Gandhi was not there. Priyanka Gandhi stood out as a leading representative of the party’s opposition throughout the proceedings.
