The Prime Minister is expected to virtually launch several railway projects and the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express between Guwahati and Kolkata from Malda in West Bengal on January 17, according to a senior official of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).With a full agenda that combines culture, infrastructure, and connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to visit Assam for two days starting January 17 after the Malda festivities, the source told IANS, asking anonymity.

In order to better integrate Assam with important parts of the nation, the Prime Minister will inaugurate new trains during the tour that would link Dibrugarh to Lucknow and Guwahati to Rohtak via Delhi.

According to the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Modi will see the traditional Bodo dance known as “Bagurumba” during the visit, which would highlight Assam’s rich cultural legacy on a national scale.

To lay the foundation stone for the elevated route project, the prime minister will visit Kaziranga on January 18.

The Prime Minister’s participation, according to Chief Minister Sarma, highlights the Center’s dedication to Assam’s development and ecologically conscious infrastructure.

One of the Assam government’s main projects for a long time has been the elevated corridor through Kaziranga, which was intended to end the long-running tension between connection and conservation.

The elevated corridor is anticipated to quickly enter the execution phase after the Union Cabinet’s recent approval of the project, according to authorities, who described it as a significant step toward sustainable development in the state.

According to prior statements made by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the new Vande Bharat Sleeper Express would run on a 16-coach rake with a maximum passenger capacity of 823.Offering pleasant travel choices across various passenger segments, the composition consists of eleven AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches, and one First Class AC coach, he said.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express was created with a strong passenger-focused approach, according to the official. It will have modern passenger information systems, noise-reduction technology, ergonomically designed cushioned berths, and automatic doors with vestibules.He said, “Modern restrooms, cutting-edge disinfection technology, and special accommodations for ‘Divyangjan’ (differently abled) passengers will further improve hygiene, accessibility, and onboard comfort.”

Safety is still one of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express’s distinguishing features.

According to the CPRO, the train will include upgraded driver’s cabin controls, emergency passenger talkback devices, and the ‘Kavach’ automated train protection system.

According to CPRO Sharma, its elegant cabins and aerodynamic appearance highlight the most recent developments in domestic rail engineering and design.

It is anticipated that the launch of this train service would greatly improve communication between West Bengal and Assam.Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, Murshidabad, Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, and Howrah in West Bengal, as well as Kamrup Metropolitan and Bongaigaon in Assam, are important beneficiary districts, according to CPRO Sharma.

The train service will encourage commerce, tourism, and socioeconomic development while bolstering regional transportation.
