Nepal : releases the team for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers

Nepal: The 15-member senior women’s team for the ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers 2026 competition was announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday.

Nepal’s women’s team has qualified for the event for the first time. Additionally, Nepal will host a women’s ICC event for the first time in 2026 when it hosts the Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers.

The Nepal women’s team will compete in the Global Qualifiers under the leadership of Indu Barma.

The 28-year-old skipper of Nepal’s women’s team offers her T20I team a plethora of expertise. In 78 games and 71 innings, the all-rounder has amassed 1041 runs. In the T20Is, she has scored one half-century and has an 83.48 strike rate.

Indu Barma took 40 wickets with the ball at an economy of 4.53 and an average of 15.45.

The women’s cricket squad from Nepal has participated in three T20I Asia Cups. The team’s current goal is to compete in their first-ever T20 World Cup. The dates of the Global Qualifiers are January 14–February 1.

Ten teams will fight for four berths in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in June in England and Wales, in the Global Qualifiers event.

Two groups of five are formed from each of the ten teams. The United States, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, and Ireland make up Group A. Nepal, the Netherlands, Scotland, Thailand, and Zimbabwe are the hosts in Group B.

The top three teams from each group will go on to the Global Qualifiers’ Super Six phase. The top four Super Six teams will secure a spot in the World Cup, which is set to take place in England and Wales in June, after the six teams compete against one another in a round-robin style.

Samjhana Khadka, Kajal Shrestha, Indu Barma (captain), Puja Mahato, Rubina Chhetri, Sita Rana Magar, Bindu Rawal, Kabita Joshi, Kabita Kunwar, Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, Roma Thapa, Suman Bista, Rajmati Airee, and Manisha Upadhaya.
