Formal Appointment at Lok Bhavan

The proceedings began after the Governor’s Secretary, Dr. Prashant Narnaware, read out the official notification issued by the General Administration Department confirming the appointment. Bhimanwar, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, most recently served as the state’s Transport Commissioner before being entrusted with this new responsibility.

Under the terms of his appointment, Bhimanwar will serve a six-year tenure or until he attains the age of 62, whichever comes earlier. The structured term is in line with established rules governing appointments to constitutional bodies such as the Maharashtra Public Service Commission.

Ceremony Reflects New Protocol Guidelines

The oath-taking ceremony followed the revised protocol introduced under recent central government guidelines. The event opened with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem and the Maharashtra State Song, reflecting a formal and patriotic tone. The same sequence concluded the ceremony, reinforcing the solemn nature of the occasion.

After completing the oath, Bhimanwar received greetings from Governor Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The leaders presented him with bouquets and extended their best wishes for his tenure.

Presence of Senior Officials and Family

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of several prominent figures. Former MPSC Chairman Rajnish Seth and Acting Chairman Dr. Abhay Wagh were present, along with other members of the commission. Senior bureaucrats, including Chief Minister’s Secretary Shrikar Pardeshi, and officials from various departments also attended. Members of Bhimanwar’s family were present to mark the occasion.

The gathering underscored the importance of the appointment, given the commission’s central role in the state’s administrative framework.

Crucial Phase for Recruitment in Maharashtra

Bhimanwar’s appointment comes at a significant juncture for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission. The commission is responsible for conducting competitive examinations and recommending candidates for Group A and Group B posts across multiple state government departments. Its functioning directly affects recruitment timelines and administrative efficiency.

In recent years, timely examinations and transparent selection processes have been key concerns for aspirants and policymakers alike. The commission’s ability to conduct examinations smoothly and declare results without delay remains central to maintaining public trust.

Experience in Key Administrative Roles

Bhimanwar brings with him a broad range of administrative experience. During his career, he has handled various assignments, including serving as private secretary to the Chief Minister in earlier years. His tenure as Transport Commissioner further added to his experience in managing large departments and public-facing services.

Officials familiar with his work describe him as methodical and process-oriented—qualities considered essential for overseeing a body that handles large-scale examinations and recruitment drives.

Smooth Leadership Transition

The swearing-in marks a seamless transition in leadership at the Maharashtra Public Service Commission. With the previous tenure concluded, the new chairman’s appointment ensures continuity in the commission’s operations.

Government officials expressed confidence that under Bhimanwar’s leadership, the commission will continue to focus on fairness, transparency, and efficiency in public service recruitment. As Maharashtra prepares for upcoming examination cycles, the spotlight will remain on the commission’s ability to meet expectations and streamline processes.

The appointment signals stability at the helm of one of the state’s most significant constitutional institutions, tasked with shaping the future administrative workforce of Maharashtra.
