Birla said that Parliament is also trying to provide real-time translation of proceedings in all 22 languages with the use of AI-based technologies. “In addition, Parliament plans to deliver written replies to questions directly to MPs via WhatsApp.” There are now just ten languages available.

He highlighted further digital improvements, stating that attempts are being made to guarantee that MPs obtain formal recordings of parliamentary activities from this Budget session within an hour of each sitting, with the goal of cutting that time down to 30 minutes by 2027. “The Digital Sansad platform is almost finished.

When it is operational, real-time translation will enable people and legislators nationwide to see and hear legislative sessions in their choice language. AI-enabled digital systems are anticipated to completely integrate this functionality in 2027, he said.

However, Birla issued a warning that any member found to be in violation of parliamentary etiquette will face consequences in line with the rules. In response to a query on the purported sighting of an e-cigarette during the winter session, he said that an inquiry was underway. Following receipt, the report would be sent to the relevant House committee for further action. The Speaker said that all party floor leaders will be consulted over the report.
