Manipur: The NIA was given the bomb investigation, and security in Bishnupur was reinforced
Manipur: According to authorities on Tuesday, the Manipur government has given the National probe Agency (NIA) control of the probe into the event, in which two people—including a woman—were hurt in two successive explosions in the Bishnupur district.

According to a police official, the NIA has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the case of the two successive explosions that occurred on Monday and were caused by locally manufactured improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
According to him, the Superintendent of Police of the Bishnupur district and an Inspector General of Police (IGP) were among the top police personnel who visited the explosion locations to assess the situation.
In an effort to find the criminals, combing and search operations were carried out in the surrounding regions on Tuesday for the second day in a row.
Security has been reinforced with the addition of more troops to stop the conflict from becoming worse. The official further said that operational and investigative operations are in progress to find and capture the bombings’ perpetrators.
An abandoned home in Ngaukon village, which is within the jurisdiction of the Phougakchao Ikhai police station, was the site of an IED explosion on Monday. Since ethnic unrest erupted in Manipur in May 2023, the house’s family has been residing at a relief camp near Keibul Lamjao.
When residents gathered at the scene after learning of the first explosion, the second explosion happened around 200 meters distant, according to the police. Soibam Sanatomba Singh (52) and Nongthobam Indubala Devi (37), two people hurt by splinters, were sent to a government hospital. According to the police, their wounds weren’t severe.
Security personnel, under the direction of top police officials, began a combing operation to capture the perpetrators of the IED blasts as soon as the explosions occurred.
A nearby improvised security bunker was also smashed by an angry crowd, who blamed security officers for not stopping the explosions and apprehending the perpetrators.
Central and state security forces are still conducting widespread crackdowns on terrorists, conducting area domination drives and search operations in vulnerable, peripheral, and mixed-population regions across districts.
To stop the movement of criminal elements and suspicious vehicles, 114 nakas (checkpoints) have been established across Manipur in both the valley and hill regions.
Additionally, security personnel have been escorting trucks and other vehicles transporting necessities along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). To guarantee the safe transit of vehicles, stringent security measures and convoy protection are maintained in hazardous areas.
