Kerala: school holiday on December 9, 2025 Because of Elections for Local Bodies

 Kerala:  local body elections, all government, private, aided, and non-aided institutions will be closed on Tuesday, December 9. Several districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam, are holding election voting.

On December 9 and 11, 2025, there will be two voting stages. The results will be revealed on December 13. Administrations requested a holiday for the district’s schools participating in the first round of voting, which started at 7 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. at various booths located in schools. Out of the 1,200 local bodies in the state, 1,199 will hold local body elections.

The district where the first round of local body elections is being held has a code of conduct in place. In order to enable polling and other procedures, school breaks have been declared. Voting will take place in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod on December 11.

According to a Times Now article, voting will take place in 941 grama panchayats, 152 block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 86 municipalities, and 6 corporations.
