J-K lost 7K Waqf properties: Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said Friday that the loss of more than 7,000 registered Waqf assets in a single year in Jammu and Kashmir was the “latest blow” against Muslims.

“More than 3.55 lakh Waqf properties are missing nationwide, with Jammu and Kashmir alone losing 7,240 entries in the new UMEED database,” the PDP president wrote on X. The preservation of Waqf assets and transparency are seriously called into doubt by these inadequacies.

The degradation of Waqf land seems like the most recent attack on Muslims, who have already seen a pattern of violence, demolitions, and marginalization. Where does this go? She went on to say.

Data on registered Waqf properties nationwide as of December 7 was also provided by the previous chief minister of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the information she provided in the article, on December 9, 2024, there were 32,533 registered properties in Jammu and Kashmir; by December 7 of this year, that number had dropped by 7,240 to 25,293.
