IndiGo: As operations in North and East India are disrupted by dense fog, IndiGo issues a travel advisory and warns of flight delays and adjustments

IndiGo: A travel advice for a foggy Wednesday morning was sent by IndiGo on Tuesday night. Misty winter skies are forecast to cover North and East India, resulting in decreased visibility and delayed aircraft movements.

“Fog is expected across parts of North and East India as the morning draws near under misty winter skies, which may lead to reduced visibility and a slower pace of flight movements during the early hours,” IndiGo said in a post published on X. Certain flights may be delayed or modified for safety reasons.

Some flights may be rescheduled or delayed as part of the airline’s proactive safety procedures. “Our teams across airports are fully prepared and working in close coordination to manage schedules smoothly, assist customers, and maintain a steady flow of operations.”

It is recommended that travelers check the most recent flight status on IndiGo’s website or app and plan ahead, giving additional time to get to the airport. Teams at the airline are putting in a lot of overtime to help customers, manage schedules, and keep things running smoothly.

“When going to the airport, slower movement and longer travel times are anticipated due to the potential influence of fog on road traffic. Before leaving home, customers who are traveling early are encouraged to check the most recent flight status on our website or app at http://t.co/EeFsEy9IJY and factor in extra buffer time,” the IndiGo statement said.

Road traffic may also be impacted; longer travel times and slower movement are expected. As the day goes on, visibility should improve, and IndiGo is grateful for its customers’ patience and faith in navigating the foggy circumstances. “Thank you for your patience and continued trust as we work steadily through the early hours, with visibility expected to improve as the day progresses,” X added to the IndiGo post.

The alert is issued at a time when the national capital’s aviation operations are being negatively impacted by heavy fog. Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport warned travelers of potential delays in arrivals and departures owing to poor visibility earlier Tuesday morning when it issued a fog advisory.

Delhi Airport said that flight operations were “steadily recovering” in a post uploaded at about 6:06 am, although it issued a warning that select flights may continue to have problems. For precise, timely itinerary changes, the airport operator suggested that travelers get in touch with their individual airlines. Additionally, travelers were reassured by Delhi Airport that personnel and ground workers had been stationed around the terminals to provide any help that was required. The airport added, “Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”

The problem is made worse by the national capital’s declining air quality. According to statistics from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was 378 at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, putting it in the “very poor” category, indicating that the city was still experiencing dangerous pollution levels.

Early morning visibility has been severely decreased due to dense fog and poor air quality, which has disrupted air operations and forced airlines and airport authorities to repeatedly issue cautions asking travelers to be alert and make appropriate travel plans.
