These assignments gave him extensive experience in managing bilateral relations and understanding the dynamics of US policymaking.

After completing his tenure as ambassador, Sandhu also served as an advisor to the board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum. He later became chair of the organization’s Geopolitical Institute, where he helped guide strategic discussions on international developments.

During this phase, he contributed to initiatives connected to major global and regional collaborations, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, the Quad partnership, and the I2U2 grouping involving India, Israel, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

His involvement in these initiatives reflected his focus on strengthening economic cooperation, technological collaboration and security partnerships among major global players.

Throughout his diplomatic career, Sandhu played a role in organizing and supporting several high-profile events involving India’s leadership and international partners.

Among them were Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at Madison Square Garden in 2014, the visit of former US President Donald Trump to India in 2020, and the Indian Prime Minister’s state visit to Washington in 2024.

These events were considered important moments in strengthening India’s diplomatic engagement and expanding strategic cooperation with the United States.
