While TMC MPs maintained their 12-hour sit-in protest against the VB G RAM G Bill 2025, opposition leaders said they would go to the streets nationwide.

Following the passage of the Vikas Bharat Guaranteed Employment and Ajivika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill by Parliament, the demonstration was organized. After the law was approved, the opposition organized a walkout from the Rajya Sabha.

The bill was approved in the Rajya Sabha after midnight and in the Lok Sabha in the afternoon.

TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh discussed the protest, saying, “We are holding a 12-hour sit-in because the anti-people Narendra Modi government has abolished the NREGA, insulted Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi, and insulted the people of the country.” NREGA was a system of assistance for the nation’s impoverished, but it has since been eliminated. This 12-hour sit-in protest is being organized by us.

The day was described as “a sad day for the country’s labour force” by Congress national secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, who also said that the Modi administration was anti-poor and anti-farmer.

“In the history of our own country, it is the most depressing day for laborers. By eliminating the MNREGA, the BJP administration has severely damaged the livelihood of 12 crore people, he said.

Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi expressed similar worries, saying the Bill “symbolises the government’s arrogance,” and that the opposition had simply asked that it be referred to a Select Committee. He said that other restrictions had been put to the plan without enough consideration or discussion.

“This bill symbolizes their arrogance,” he told the journalists. We just asked that this measure be sent to the Select Committee. This demand is not very high. Many restrictions have been put to this plan.
