EnergySupply – The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has approached the Union government seeking immediate assistance to ensure a steady supply of cooking gas for langar services in gurdwaras across the national capital. In a letter addressed to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, the committee highlighted that recent disruptions in LPG distribution are beginning to affect the preparation of free community meals served daily at several Sikh places of worship.

Appeal to the Petroleum Ministry

In its communication to the minister, the DSGMC stated that the ongoing conflict in parts of West Asia has disrupted the supply chain of liquefied petroleum gas, leading to difficulties in obtaining cylinders from gas agencies. According to the committee, several suppliers have temporarily halted deliveries, creating uncertainty for institutions that depend heavily on LPG for cooking.

The committee requested the petroleum ministry to intervene and ensure that gurdwaras continue receiving uninterrupted LPG supplies so that langar services can continue without interruption. Langar, a long-standing Sikh tradition, involves serving free meals to people of all backgrounds, and it forms a central part of daily activities at gurdwaras.
