Telangana launches 100 model schools

Plan to Replicate Arutla Public School Model

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that each of the proposed institutions would be developed on the lines of the well-known Telangana Public School in Arutla, located in Manchala mandal of Rangareddy district. The schools are expected to feature well-designed classrooms, qualified teaching staff, playgrounds, and transport facilities to ensure access for students from surrounding areas.

The announcement came during a detailed review meeting of the Education Department held at the Command Control Centre on Thursday. The Chief Minister underlined the need to transform government schools into model institutions capable of delivering high standards of learning. He assured officials that the state would allocate sufficient funds to modernise infrastructure and improve academic outcomes.

Focus on Urban Infrastructure and Modern Facilities

Special attention was given to the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) areas, where new government schools will be constructed to match the standards of established corporate institutions. Engineers were directed to incorporate modern construction technology and complete 12 integrated school complexes in these zones within one year.

Officials were instructed to ensure that facilities comparable to those available at reputed institutions such as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Jubilee Hills Public School are included in these integrated campuses. The government also confirmed that 164 existing schools would be upgraded with additional classrooms and essential amenities, including 17 schools within the CURE region.

Community Monitoring and Academic Engagement

As part of a broader 99-day outreach programme, the Chief Minister proposed dedicating a week exclusively to education-related activities. Public representatives and senior officials will visit schools and colleges to assess infrastructure gaps and address concerns raised by students and staff. The aim is to create a responsive system where issues are resolved promptly at the local level.

Artificial Intelligence to Be Introduced in Curriculum

Recognising the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in global industries, the government has decided to introduce AI education at the school level. Officials were asked to design short-term training modules for teachers and lecturers so they can effectively guide students in emerging technologies.

The administration also plans to revise technical education programmes. Outdated courses in polytechnic colleges and Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) will be replaced with AI-based and industry-oriented programmes. The objective is to enhance employability and ensure that graduates secure placements in relevant sectors soon after completing their studies.

Funding Support for Universities

The state government reiterated its commitment to higher education by confirming financial support for universities across Telangana. The Chief Minister recalled that Rs. 1,000 crore had already been allocated to Osmania University. He directed the Chairman of the Higher Education Board to submit a detailed report outlining the financial needs of other state universities so that allocations can be planned accordingly.

Breakfast Scheme and Student Welfare Measures

In preparation for the 2026–27 academic year, the government reviewed arrangements to introduce a breakfast programme in all government schools. Alongside breakfast, students will receive milk sourced from the state-run Vijaya Dairy. Officials have been instructed to use digital tools to monitor students’ nutritional requirements and calorie intake on a regular basis.

Additionally, students will be provided with a comprehensive kit that includes textbooks, uniforms, school bags, stationery, geometry boxes, dictionaries, shoes, and socks. The government has assured that adequate funding will be made available to support this initiative.

Regulation of Private School Fees

The Telangana Private Schools Fee Regulatory Monitoring Commission submitted its recommendations regarding fee regulation in private institutions. After reviewing practices adopted in other states, the Chief Minister directed district-level authorities to conduct inspections and submit detailed reports on fee structures.

At the state level, a committee headed by a retired judge or former chief secretary will take final decisions. The draft framework will also be placed in the public domain to invite feedback from parents, educators, and civil society representatives before implementation.

Education Policy Report Submitted

The Telangana Education Commission also presented its report on the proposed state education policy. Commission members briefed the Chief Minister on their study visits to countries including the United States, Vietnam, and Malaysia, where they examined best practices in school and higher education systems.

After reviewing the recommendations, the Chief Minister assigned the Government Advisor the responsibility of preparing an actionable plan and exploring legislative measures required to implement key reforms.
