Background of Alliance Speculation

Speaking at the party headquarters in Koyambedu, Premalatha Vijayakant stated that the DMDK has not been approached by any representative of the NDA. She specifically mentioned that neither Union Minister Piyush Goyal nor any other leader associated with the alliance had contacted her or the party leadership in any form. According to her, there has been no direct or indirect communication, including phone calls or messages, regarding a potential political partnership.

Clarification on Media Reports

Premalatha expressed frustration over repeated media reports claiming otherwise. She said that such reports were baseless and created unnecessary confusion among party supporters. She remarked that the media appeared more interested in discussing a possible alliance than even the party’s own cadres. By reiterating her stand, she emphasized that the DMDK remains independent in its decision-making and has not entered into alliance negotiations with the NDA at this stage.

Position on AIADMK and BJP Talks

Addressing further speculation, Premalatha also rejected claims that the DMDK was involved in parallel discussions with the AIADMK or the Bharatiya Janata Party. She clearly stated that, as of now, there have been no talks with either political party. According to her, any future alliance decision would be taken only after thorough consultations with district secretaries and senior party leaders. She added that such a decision, if made, would be officially announced through proper party channels.

Remarks on Tamil Nadu Governance

Interestingly, while dismissing alliance-related rumors, Premalatha praised the current DMK-led Tamil Nadu government for its handling of recent law and order issues. She commended the Tamil Nadu Police for their swift action in arresting the accused involved in the killing of an LIC manager during a fire sabotage incident in Madurai. She said the prompt response demonstrated administrative efficiency and commitment to public safety.

Reaction to Kallakurichi Tragedy

Premalatha also expressed her condolences over the tragic deaths caused by a helium gas cylinder explosion during a festival in Kallakurichi. She welcomed the state government’s decision to provide compensation to the families of the victims, describing it as a humane and necessary step. Her remarks reflected a balanced political tone, focusing on governance and public welfare beyond party lines.

Comments on Piyush Goyal and PM Visit

When asked about Piyush Goyal’s recent visit to Chennai, Premalatha said she was unaware of the purpose of his trip. She clarified that she had not spoken to him and had no information regarding his schedule. She further stated that she learned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Chennai only through media reports, underlining once again that there had been no direct political communication with the NDA leadership.

Upcoming Statewide Campaign

Premalatha announced that the DMDK is planning a statewide campaign scheduled from January 24 to February 2. She said the campaign would focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and engaging with the public on key regional issues. According to her, any alliance-related decision, if considered, would only be discussed internally after the completion of this campaign.

Conclusion and Party Stand
In conclusion, Attachment

The DMDK leadership has made it clear that rumors about alliance talks are unfounded. The party intends to focus on internal organization, public outreach, and policy issues rather than speculative political alignments. Premalatha Vijayakant’s statements underline the party’s cautious approach and its emphasis on collective decision-making before taking any major political step.
