DelhiPolice – Two Arrested in Capital Over Pro-Khalistan Graffiti Before Republic Day
DelhiPolice – The Delhi Police has arrested two men in connection with the defacement of public property using pro-Khalistan graffiti at two locations in the national capital, days before Republic Day celebrations. Officials said the arrests were made following a focused investigation aimed at preventing disturbances during a sensitive period marked by heightened security across the city.

The accused have been identified as Baljinder, who works as an ambulance driver in Delhi, and Rohit, also known as Kirth, his alleged associate. Authorities stated that the graffiti appeared at separate sites and was intended to provoke tension in the run-up to the national event.
Police Link Accused to Banned Separatist Outfit
According to investigators, the two men are suspected of having links to Sikhs for Justice, a banned organization. Police officials allege that the act was carried out under instructions from individuals associated with the group, with the aim of creating unease and drawing attention ahead of Republic Day.
Law enforcement agencies have maintained that such incidents are taken seriously, particularly when they coincide with nationally significant occasions. Officers said the timing and nature of the graffiti raised immediate concerns about attempts to disrupt communal harmony.
Alleged Role of Overseas Handler
Police sources claim the operation was directed by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the group’s chief, who is based abroad. Investigators believe that the plan was coordinated from Canada, where an associate allegedly remained in contact with the accused.
Officials said digital evidence suggests that instructions and updates were shared through encrypted communication platforms, making tracking and verification a key part of the investigation. Cyber units reportedly assisted in identifying the communication trail that led to the arrests.
Financial Incentive and Planning Details
During questioning, police said the accused disclosed that they were offered a payment of Rs 2 lakh to carry out the act. The money was allegedly promised as an incentive to execute the graffiti at multiple locations within a short time frame.
Investigators stated that Baljinder admitted he was influenced by the prospect of easy money and was assured logistical assistance. Rohit is believed to have supported the plan by helping identify locations and coordinating movements to avoid immediate detection.
Security Measures Ahead of National Celebrations
The arrests come at a time when Delhi remains under extensive security arrangements due to Republic Day preparations. Police officials emphasized that preventive action is crucial to ensure public safety and maintain order during large-scale national events.
Authorities reiterated that any attempt to disturb peace, spread extremist messages, or damage public property will be dealt with firmly. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are examining whether the accused had any prior involvement in similar incidents or maintained contact with other individuals linked to such activities.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Action
Police said further inquiries are being conducted to trace the full extent of the alleged network and to identify any additional persons involved. Devices seized from the accused are undergoing forensic examination, and financial transactions linked to the promised payment are also being scrutinized.
Officials added that the case underscores the importance of inter-agency coordination, especially when activities are suspected to have cross-border links. Legal proceedings against the accused are expected to continue as investigators compile evidence for prosecution.
