Delhi-Meerut Road Traffic Alert: For the third day in a row, construction near Govindpuri is causing a severe jam
Delhi-Meerut Road Traffic Alert: Due to continuing road work by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Govindpuri region, commuters on the Delhi-Meerut route near Modinagar experienced a significant traffic bottleneck on Thursday. Such disturbances have been occurring in the city for the third day in a row.

The absence of traffic control made the two-hour-long bottleneck worse. Normally, while work is underway throughout the day, traffic is rerouted to a one-way system, but Thursday, this procedure was not followed. There was little to no room for movement due to the congestion caused by cars trying to pass beside the work site.
As things rapidly became worse, even two-wheelers were unable to go through the huge lines. Short trips, which typically take minutes, were reported by commuters to take an hour. Many people think that if police had been there to oversee the preparations, the mayhem would have been prevented.
In reference to the police absence, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) said that traffic flow was quickly restored after a team was sent out as soon as information about the congestion was received.
