Incident Reported From Rasraspur Village

According to preliminary information provided by the police, the girl was alone at her residence when the accused arrived at the house on a motorcycle. Investigators believe an argument broke out between the two shortly after he reached there. During the confrontation, the accused allegedly attacked the teenager with a knife and slit her throat.

The incident reportedly took place at around 5:30 in the evening. After the assault, the accused fled the scene immediately. When the victim’s family members returned home sometime later, they discovered her lying on the floor in a pool of blood and quickly alerted the authorities.

Police and Forensic Team Reach Crime Scene

Upon receiving the information, officers from Sundargarh Sadar police station rushed to the location along with a forensic team. The victim’s body was recovered from the house and later sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather additional forensic evidence.

Senior police officials also visited the location as part of the investigation. Sundargarh Superintendent of Police Amritpal Kaur inspected the scene and reviewed the initial findings with the officers involved in the probe.

Previous Contact Between Accused and Victim

Police sources indicated that the accused had earlier attempted to develop a romantic relationship with the girl on several occasions. Investigators believe he had been trying to contact her repeatedly through phone calls and had met her in person previously.

The victim had recently appeared for the matriculation examination, according to officials familiar with the case. Authorities suspect that tensions related to the accused’s repeated advances may have led to the confrontation that took place on Thursday evening.

Accused Tracked and Arrested

After committing the crime, the accused reportedly abandoned his motorcycle near the spot while escaping. Police used this clue during their investigation to trace his movements.

Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirmal Mohapatra said officers were able to locate the suspect within hours. He was arrested from his native village in Kinjirkela, which falls under Balishankara block in the same district.

During questioning, investigators learned that the accused had been working as a vehicle helper in Kerala and had returned to his village a few months ago. Police believe the argument that occurred at the victim’s house escalated suddenly, leading to the fatal attack.

Legal Proceedings Begin

Following his arrest, the accused was presented before a local court. The court has sent him to judicial custody while the investigation continues. Police officials stated that further evidence, including forensic reports and witness statements, will be examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Authorities have assured that the case will be investigated thoroughly and that all necessary legal procedures will be followed.
